Private Mailing Card Era Postcards (1998-1901) - Five postcards with views of Savannah, Georgia. All are marked with a stock number and "COPYRIGHT, 1900, (or 1901) BY DETROIT PHOTOGRAPHIC CO." A little smaller than the standard postcard, they measure 5 1/2" x 3 1/4". Printed in full color using a chromolithographic printing process. Undivided backs are marked "PRIVATE MAILING CARD." - "Authorized by Act of Congress of May 19th, 1898." All are in very good, unused condition with age toning, a little soiling, and the usual edge and corner wear. 1) #5758 - "DOWN THE RIVER, SAVANNAH, GA." - message reads "The 4 masts are The Blacks Laying at Georgia Lumber Co. Wharf." 2) #5760 - "SHERMAN'S OLD HEADQUARTERS, SAVANNAH, GA." 3) #5761 - THE HERMITAGE, SAVANNAH, GA." - note light crease across top right corner. 4) #5762 - BONAVENTURE CEMETERY, SAVANNAH, GA." - note small tear at top center. 5) #5763 "PALMETTOES ON TYBEE ISLAND, SAVANNAH, GA."
