Classic Crown Trifari textured and smooth gold-tone pin shaped like a ribbon bow, rosette, or stylized flower. Marked on the reverse with the "Crown Trifari" and copyright symbol, which suggests a date of manufacture from the late 1950's to the late 1960's. Measures 1 3/8" in width and 1 1/2" in length. Excellent undamaged condition with a safety clasp in good working order on the reverse.
Trifari was founded in 1910 in New York by an Italian immigrant, Gustavo Trifari, and remained in the family until 1975. After 1975, there was a succession of owners until the year 2000, when the Liz Claiborne company took over and moved all production overseas. Long considered to be one of the most successful makers of costume jewelry produced in America, the vintage "Crown Trifari" marked pieces have become very collectible.
