Large silver plated fish shaped napkin holder. It measures 9" from tip of nose to tip of lower tail fin, is 4" tall, and 1 1/2" deep. It is marked on the inside "MODELLO-DEPOSITATO" which is Italian for "registered model", roughly corresponding to our U.S "trademarked" or "copyrighted" items. The interior is also marked with an illegible symbol and an elegant letter "A". It will hold one linen napkin, several paper napkins or some letters and letter paper. Excellent undamaged condition.
An internet search turned up several of these in the original box. The box pictured a vintage tablescape with one of these fish and one linen napkin at each place setting. They were sold by the English silver-plate giftware company, "Queen Anne Tableware Ltd." The company was established in 1919 in the U.K.'s West Midlands. They are still in business and specialize in silver plated tableware and giftware.
