Decorative 7 1/4" milk glass plate with openwork border of forget-me-nots. The central design features an embossed (raised image) angel or cherub with a lute or mandolin and is unmarked. I have seen it offered in several places as made by Westmoreland, but I have been unable to confirm that myself. It is similar to many plates made by Westmoreland and since Westmoreland made more milk glass than anyone else and for a longer time than anyone else, I think that is a reasonable assumption. Excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no nicks.
The Westmoreland Glass Company was founded in 1889 in Grapeville, PA. It continued in operation under several owners until 1984.
