Wedgwood cream on solid sage green jasperware single reading candlestick. A frieze of classical motifs surround the central area with garlands of acorns and oak leaves around the lower and upper areas. Candlestick measures 5" tall, 4" in diameter across the bottom, 2" in diameter across the top, and a 3/4" diameter for the candle. Marked on the bottom with the single stamp "WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND", and the number "75" for the year 1975. The letters "SA" and "G" also appear on the bottom. Excellent undamaged condition - no chips, no cracks, no crazing.
Founded in 1859 by Josiah Wedgwood in the Staffordshire district of Great Britain, the company is still producing fine pottery. Jasperware, a major innovation by the company, has been in production more than 200 years in a variety of colors. Solid sage green jasperware was reintroduced in 1950 and discontinued in 1986. The single stamp "WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND" was introduced in 1970 and continues into the present.
