Carl Schumann Arzberg Bavaria Germany Bird Plate

Carl Schumann porcelain bird plate featuring what I believe is a pair of European bullfinches perched on a branch of yellow flowers. The plate measures 7 1/2 inches in diameter. There are several factory flaws which do not detract. Otherwise plate is in excellent undamaged condition, no chips, no cracks, no crazing. Schumann stamp on back indicates piece is from the 1960s/70s. The E&R stamp refers to the importer, Ebeling & Reuss.

Heinrich Schumann founded the porcelain company in 1876 in Arzberg, Bavaria, Germany. The company was passed down through the family to its last owner, Carl Schumann III, who ran the company from 1923 until it closed in 1994. Ebeling & Reuss (E&R Gold Crown) was a Pennsylvania based import company in business from 1886 until they were sold in 2002. They imported and distributed high quality giftware from many companies around the world including Carl Schumann Porcelain.
