ca. Early 1920's Cotton Voile Blouse

This is a lovely blouse which dates from the late Teens to the Early 1920's. It is fabricated in a lightweight cotton with a fancy window pane weave. The boxes alternate between a delicate, boxy weave and a plain gauze weave. It is fashioned with single roll cuffs, edged in lace and a sweet shawl collar, where the lace reappears. It fastens up the center front with five mother of pearl buttons. The top four have a fluted edge and the bottom button is plain. There are gathers to the front of the shoulders. All seams are french finished, the button holes are hand done and the hem is a double rolled with a 1/4" single needle stitch.

Condition: Very Good. There are 2 flaws. The first is 2 tiny holes on the wearer's left chest, one is 1/8" and the other is 1/16" (second to the last photo). The second is a 1/4" on the wearer's right inside cuff at the fold line (last photo). This has been cleaned and seems to be strong and sturdy and ready to wear.

Measurements: Best for XS- S. The pattern was cut with a dropped shoulder and high armholes and is meant to fit loosely across the chest and body.
