ca. 1930's Silk Lined Reversible Cape

This lovely silk lined evening cape dates from the late 1920's to the early 1930's and is just exquisite. The outside of the cape has a beautiful abstract floral pattern woven in shades of dark and light orange grounded by Ecru and Ivory. The silk liner is china silk and the cape is completely clean finished. I do believe this is meant to be reversible as the buttons are both inside and out, giving you so many styling options. The exterior fabric is rayon and is slightly rough to the touch, but drapes quite beautifully as demonstrated in the photos. This is a very well made piece. As mentioned it is reversible and the buttonholes are all beautifully bound. The covered buttons are the woven floral on top and the china silk at the base. There is a shaped seam that runs across each shoulder and an extra gore of fabric front and back for additional fullness.

Labels: No

Condition: Excellent. There is one small (1/4" ) spot on the silk in the back about 12 1/2" up from the hem. I have not had this cleaned due to it's age and fiber content, but it seems to be very clean with no strong odors.
