It is not every day that one of these scarce pattern bowls by d'Avesn, appear on the market, and as the values of d'Avesn items continue to rise, this is bowl represents a very wise investment.

Pierre d'Avesn was a glass designing genius. He not only contributed to the glass-making world, he was instrumental to its development during the period of Art Deco. From the age of 14 years he was employed by no other than Rene Lalique, who embraced numerous designed pieces by d'Avesn, who at the age of 29 years then went on to become Principal Designer Manager at `Daum Freres' at their Croismare glassworks in Luneville, France, where he remained until c1936 before then taking over the management of Verlys.

D'Avesn is a force to be reckoned with within the realm of Art Deco press moulded glass, as this bowl amply demonstrates.

The handles of the bowl are instantly recognisable as being a `signature piece' by d'Avesn, as they are his `trademark design.' This bowl was also produced as a vase of the same pattern, which of course was taller than the bowl, and not as wide.

It is understood that this bowl was produced during d'Avesn's time spent with Daum. I have added a group photograph to display some of these handle-pattern pieces for comparison.

The glass is one of quality, as you would expect from this quality designer, and it is relatively heavy for its size, and its base has been ground and polished – which are further signs of quality. The colour shade is a delightful lime-green, which almost borders upon being uranium in vibrancy.

The outside of the bowl has been moulded with delightful pattern of stylized `stars' upon a background of faux acid-frosted glass, but of course it is the handles of this piece which propel it into a league of its own. They are an impressive 1 inch wide & thick and they have moulded as double-scrolls, one upon the other to each side of the bowl.

It is offered to you here completely free of any damage, save for age related wear to the polished base which is expected. It's a gem for your collection and a wise investment piece at this current offer price...
