*Buyer Beware: Due to the surge of collective interest for these vase types there are numerous forgeries of Joma glass being offered by unscrupulous dishonest traders. Many of these forgeries will have been hand painted in order to dupe and will also carry hand applied painted signatures, which are also false. I can guarantee the authenticity of my glass, including this original pair of vases by Joma. There are currently (January 2013) no less than four examples of so-called Joma glass being offered on the internet, which have been faked & painted by modern hands*
Joma, was a glass factory based in France during the 1920s – 1930s, and that much is sacrosanct, however little else is known about the factory or its designing glass workers, except for the wonderful example items left behind, although a number of the Joma designers went on to work for Daum and Rene Lalique. It is also believed that Joma (just as many other casualties of WWII) fell into obscurity, as no records are known which document Joma's activities from their era.
Vases seem to have been the mainstay of their production range, some of which were then afforded with cold enamel work. Bold Art Deco geometrical forms also feature and predominate most of their work, which can also be likened to that of Degue and Muller Freres for example, during the period.
Thankfully, Joma items are mostly signed in moulded relief which is an obvious mark attribution which also establishes and confirms its authenticity... They should also be heavy for their size, which is also a sign of quality. Single vases are desirable, matched pairs even more so and here I am offering you such a pair and both are signed in moulded block capitals: JOMA FABRICATION FRANCAISE
These vases simply scream with Art Deco designing with their wonderfully portrayed and stylized shapes and forms, using glass as a medium.
Vertical oval shaped frames enclose overlapping flowers & foliage in true Art Deco style in raised relief upon this fabulous pair of glass vases. Each has been mouth-blown into a releasing mould and then matt-satin frosted once the glass had cooled to provide a luxurious tactile finish. They are sublime and they capture the very essence of the Art Deco period.
Original French Art Deco moulded glass, does not get much better than this in terms of design matched with affordability, and the works of Joma make a very wise investment, sooner rather than later...
Both are in pristine condition, with no cracks, chips or flea-bites. They are gorgeous examples for your collection, AND JUST LOOK AT THE RIDICULOUSLY LOW 'GIVE-AWAY' PRICE!
