Rare 1930s French Art Deco Opalescent Glass Bowl by Sabino
The luxurious qualities of opalescence have been presented upon this piece with a lavishness that is almost unprecedented in terms of subject matter combined with use and decorative appeal. There are few floral pattern bowls by Sabino, that come anywhere close to it... In my opinion.
No matter where from or how this piece is viewed, it is sensational from each and every angle, and it is a bowl that is full of on-going surprises...
The pattern name is questionable,(as it has been pictured without captions in Decelle's Sabino Catalogue Raisonne) however it has been referenced within extensively researched & recognised publications by worthy authorities on the works by Sabino, as one of the 'Les Anemonés' series.
The glass is signed to the inside center in moulded block capitals: SABINO FRANCE
The bowl has been beautifully moulded to its underside surface with three large stylized anemone flowers and Art Deco cloudburst designs, upon which three separate up-turned daisy flowers have been used to provide the bowl with three peg-like feet. Further decorative features of chains & pearls deliver sensational dramatics to the piece when viewed from above. It is absolutely stunning.
The bowl rings like a bell when tapped with a fingernail and it is in pristine mint condition throughout. Even the pegged-feet are completely free of any nicks, chips or scratches. I cannot imagine a finer example than this.
