Incredible German 1930s Art Deco Press Moulded Uranium Glass Flower Set Sailing Ship Display by Walther & Sohne

This sensational display demonstrates once again the remarkable achievements of Walther & Sohne during the Art Deco period using press moulded glass techniques.

The quality of their glass matched with amazing designs makes Walther the undisputed German champions of their era.

The `Segelschiff & Seerosen' pattern (sailing ship & water lilies) is particularly scarce in any colour type. In collective circles, this piece has also been termed as `Nelson.'

The sailing ship alone is a much sought after item as a stand-alone piece and the water lily bowl is one of Walthers' finest.

Both of these items were available as separates at time of manufacture and a variety of bowl patterns were available to suit individual requirements, however in collective circles this is `the correct' bowl for this set.

The sailing ship was always complete with its very own design of flower block, many of which today have suffered from irreparable damage or loss. This is a rare complete set indeed for your collection and it has an obvious appeal that is timeless.

All of the center piece displays produced by Walther & Sohne make a statement, but none are much more grander than this piece. I have photographed it beside another pattern by Walther to provide size & scale and to show you the true splendour of this sensational set. There is nothing else quite like it. It is in a realm of its own and it has a magnificence seldom seen using press moulded glass...

...The ship for example, is an uncommon design, particularly for Walther & Sohne. It is also a complex piece which would have required exacting skills to produce with any degree of success however Walther were no strangers within their working medium. In fact they were the opposite, and were innovating working genius of their craft. Please study the remarkable movement that the sailing ship has been afforded, without any compromise to quality. The delicacy of the sails, for example display transparent gracefulness and yet are solid & sturdy moulded upon their masts. Subtle pleated shapes & curves, places the ship straight into the world of Art Deco geometrical styling, and what could be more befitting for such a vessel, than its very own wavy-sea of moulded glass upon which it appears to float upon. It is a beautiful designed piece which can be admired from any angle.

And then how about the bowl, which catapults this center piece into another dimension. `Seerosen' (water lily) pattern by Walther, is quite something special.

It is an absolute joy and one of Walthers' best in terms of beauty matched with collective desirability, and when it is grouped with its sailing ship, then WOW!

Thickly moulded around the underside of the bowl, is a fluidity of stylized water lilies & buds, upon lily pads within a swirling whirlpool of water. Incorporated to these designed features, provides the bowl with a tripod of feet which raises the bowl to allow for optimum light penetration from beneath. It is a wonderful example of Art Deco press moulded glass which uses Walther's remarkable colour-type of uranium green to perfection... LOOK at how this glass reacts when lit by UV black light! It is amazing...

These Walther items do not show up often. Each component piece is seldom offered for sale or even seen outside of private hands. I am offering you a rare opportunity to acquire this fine example and I would kindly urge you not to allow this chance to pass you by. It is without any doubts a very wise investment piece for the connoisseur and its current value shall continue to grow... Classy Glass? You bet!

It is one of two examples that I am currently offering, the other being crafted using `peach' coloured glass. I would urge you not to allow these complete set pieces to pass you by. Once they have gone, they have gone for good...
