Tremendous 14 inch French Opalescent Glass Bowl. Ballerines / Ballerina pattern by Sabino, France. Circa 1930s Art Deco.

This is a gorgeous piece of Art Deco era Sabino glass which uses the remarkable qualities of opalescent glass to perfection, matched with beautiful design.

It is also an impressive sized piece which makes it stand out from the crowd within any suitable interior display.

The bowl has been beautifully moulded in raised relief with three semi-naked stylized ballerinas of different pose. It is opalescent glass which displays much movement, as these three maidens leap & dance within the beautiful backdrop of their flowing costumes which are edged and decorated with strings of moulded glass pearls. The resulting effects are a sensation, and it has an eye-catching appeal which is timeless.

Cleverly incorporated into the design of the bowl is the use of the ballerinas to provide raised feet for the piece, which in turn allows for optimum light penetration from beneath. The ballerinas also have an impressive 1 inch thickness of opalescent glass. Only the underside has been decoratively moulded whilst the interior of the bowl is highly fire-polished and smooth.

It carries the appropriate mark for this pattern, in moulded relief to its top rim: FRANCE

These amazing bowls by Sabino, do not show up too often, and when they do they command high prices. They are far and few between and quickly disappear into private collections where they remain. I am offering you an ideal opportunity to acquire this example.

You are not spending money you are investing it when purchasing glass such as this and it is undeniably a delight to behold and to cherish whilst it increases in value. This particular pattern has increased in value by 200 GBP ($300 USD) within the last six months, and is still destined to grow...

CONDITION REPORT:

The bowl rings like a bell with one tap from a fingernail. There are no chips, cracks or bruising to the mouldings and everything is crisply defined. Mentioned here for accuracy there is one or two minuscule shell-flakes which can be felt upon the inside edge rim. These are barely noticeable and by no means detract from the splendour of this incredible piece. It is an excellent example by Sabino for your collection and its value is destined to rise.
