LARGE Two Part Hand Tooled & Stitched English Leather Cigar Case c1940s.
The interior of this cigar case is suede, and very smooth. It can accommodate 4 x 0.75 inch, 5 inch long cigars, which by means of hand-tooling to the leather, fit side by side into four tube-like channels which run the length of two separate sleeves. Both of the sleeves have been stitched by hand, across both horizontal closed edges and to one side length of each sleeve.
There are no maker or factory marks present, save for a number `84' handwritten in black ink to the inside of the outer sleeve and also the remains/traces of a paper label.
My photographs form the major part of the description of this cigar case and their colour is as accurate as I could capture, however I would personally describe the leather to be,rich & dark mahogany in colour, and has a wonderful vintage patina.
The entire case is in excellent condition, which must be due to it having been stored as previously mentioned above,as it has not been used or seen the light-of-day, for a good many years. There are no splits or creases etc., and all of the stitching remains intact. I have looked inside both of the sleeves, whilst holding them facing a light bulb, and there are no gaps for example and so both are as air tight and one could hope for, for such a piece.
