OFFERS INVITED> Bohemian Art Nouveau Iridescent & Uranium Glass Vase by Kralik

There is, what I believe to be, the remains of a signature to the base of the vase, however I am not offering it as being a signed piece. This by no means reflects upon the offer price, but is mentioned. The top of the vase has also been fire polished.

Subtle, but wonderful silvery-golden & peacock-feather blues & purples, shimmer across the surface of this delightful vase, which were achieved by spraying the green coloured glass with metallic salts, before the item was allowed to cool. The glass also contains high levels of Uranium Oxide, which causes the vase to fluoresce when lit by UV Black light.

An additional decorative feature of the vase is that what appears to be `dimples' to the vase exterior, are in fact convex ovals of glass to the vase interior, which provides this piece with evermore eye-catching appeal.

The working process required to achieve the above effects,are not often seen,however to enable it to be produced,one blows the glass to approximately twice its eventual size,which then enables for more molten glass to be inserted & placed into it as and where required. Glass in its molten state when again reheated,reduces in size until blown once again. Continuous turning of the blowing pipe,prevents the glass to lose its axis and to remain uniform. Only a glass blower will know when the correct time is required to then remove the glass from the furnace so as to then re-blow and form its final shape, as here is.

The condition of the vase is excellent. Age related wear to base of the vase is evident, as this piece is in excess of 100 years of age. A shell-flake, no larger than a baby's fingernail is also evident to the top rim, however this is mentioned for accuracy of description purposes only and is hardly a detraction for such a wonderful example of Bohemian Art Nouveau iridescent & Uranium glass. It is a gorgeous vase and will be a very much welcomed addition to your collection...
