Carved Nepalese Stone & Yellow Metal Snuff / Aromatic Oil Bottle - Mid 20th century Vintage Original.

Many would contain medicine powders for example and used by travelling Buddhist monks of both sexes,being an essential with which to use whilst meditating,whilst others such as this wonderful bottle type could be used to hold a liquid such as an essential or perfumed oil, particularly musk.

Carved from a solid piece of stone makes this bottle an ideal medium for the purpose and with the development of the screw top *using a tread-lathe* ensures water tightness.

The finial of this bottle is provided with a hole through which would thread a leather cord cut at length to suit individual requirement, to be worn around the neck. The top also provides an integral dauber for the application of a chosen substance contained within.

The bottle has additional decorative appeal with the addition of a yellow metal panel which has been hand tooled with an embossed pattern of stylized floral & foliage motifs of Northern Asian origin.

It is beautiful example as my photographs surely demonstrate and has an almost Art Deco characteristic to its style & geometric form.

All of these old snuff bottles from my collection offer exceptionally good value for your investment. Each bottle is totally unique and is a genuine vintage original. They are either Tibetan Mongolian or Nepalese of origin and have been entirely made by hand using a variety of materials.

Not to be confused with modern-day copies,or Chinese mass produced imports, this is a genuine period bottle dating from the mid - 20th century. It was purchased by me at Sarangkot,Pokhara in Nepal.
