Clear Threaded Pattern Art Nouveau Iridescent Glass Vase by Kralik, Austria.

Here for your appraisal is a desirable Kralik Clear Threaded squat vase. It is also scarce, as very few examples of Clear Threaded pattern types are publicly documented or recorded.

This example as can be noted is in mint condition, apart of course for the metal mount which displays age related wear.

Clear Threaded glass relies upon the qualities of transparent crystal and a disorganized, haphazard placement of exterior trails of glass to enhance the iridescence hues of colour which shimmer across the surface, achieved by spraying the vase with metallic salts whilst the glass was still hot.

The procedure provides these exquisite Kralik examples with translucent lustre and with subtleness rather than using strong vivid opaque colours of intense depth.

This enchanting vase offers a refreshing vibrancy to a collection of iridescent glass, or as can be seen from my photographs, they are also stand-alone items of exceptional beauty.

I do not use special effects and none of my photographs are colour enhanced or interfered with. I have simply taken several for your appraisal using both flash & without and during different times of the day in order to provide the diversity and the splendour that this glass variety creates.

As is the traditional method of producing these Austrian glass vase types, the top was cut to height once the glass had completely cooled.

Many were left unpolished which is a very common found feature of such vase types. Most of these vase styles have a rough feel to their top rims which again is common and acceptable however this example has had its top ground so as to remove sharpness to the glass. The grinding would have been done at time of producing this vase Circa 1900 – 1910.

Not all, but many importers of these vase styles would provide a suitable metal mount for the vase not only to act as a protective cover but to provide a fretwork in which to arrange flowers such as with this wonderful example.

The metal mount is corroded as shown which is hardly surprising as these metal mounts can corrode due to many years of intended use whilst glass is inarguably the greatest of mediums ever produced as a waterproof and so is therefore completely unaffected.

It is a beautiful example of Austrian Art Nouveau free-blown & formed glass vase and its condition is pristine and mint for your collection.

It is sublime.
