HUGE 15 inch Amber Glass Bowl by Brockwitz, Germany. 1930's Art Deco.

The Art Deco glass bowls produced by Brockwitz are substantial statement pieces with crisply defined moulded patterns and a vast variety of incredible designs.

Brockwitz, were a factory of major importance and their glass can compare and compete with any other German factory of its period in terms of both outstanding quality of glass & tremendous design.

Introduced by Brockwitz circa 1936 as `Fruit-dish with 4 handles' pattern No.9091 this dish is LARGE! One could be forgiven perhaps (when viewing its original drawing) for mistaking it as a sofa or giant armchair! It is an amazing piece of press moulded glass and it uses various elements of Art Deco styling combined with proportion & shape, to present itself with magnificence.

At 15 inches across the diagonal and with a height of 5 inches,this large square dish delivers.

I will, if I may, allow my photographs to describe and to demonstrate the wonderful design qualities of this piece, which combines translucent & satin frosted amber glass to perfection.

My photographs also form a part of the description of this dish which as can be seen display the sturdiness of this piece. It is elevated by the inclusion of vertical feet to each corner which in turn provides four winged handles. One of the feet is chipped as shown, however this does not interfere with the desirability of this dish and neither its stability. It is a wonderful example of its pattern type which is scarce and seldom found.

The vast majority of Brockwitz glass moulds were lost during WWII. Production of Brockwitz Art Deco pressed glass was limited and cannot be repeated. Don't let this opportunity to pass you by.
