This is a beautiful example of Kralik, Mother of Pearl, opal Iridescent Art Nouveau glass produced in Austria, circa 1900 – 1910.
I am offering several different examples of these wonderful vases, separately listed and each having been produced by one of the most historically important makers of the period.
They are crystal cased over white and all have been mouth blown into appealing, bulbous shaped moulds in a variety of sizes and styles.
They are exceptionally tactile and eye catching vases and their diamond-point surfaces are intaglio moulded and can be described as having the feel of orange peel.
The governing factor to all of these vase shapes is their beautiful lustre of pearly white iridescence, which has been achieved by casing the white blown vase with clear glass before then spraying the finished piece with metallic salts.
The application of these salts is critically temperature timed and only the glass worker can know at what crucial stage that this is and before the glass has cooled.
The resulting effects are stunning as I am sure you will agree.
This fine example which has been decorated with a series of vertical & bulbous two-sized oval shapes protruding from the vase body for additional styling & form.
The tops of most of these vase styles remain unpolished, which is a common characteristic which extends to most of these Mother of Pearl vase pattern types.
Metal mounts were often applied out of house by the various importers and retailers of the time.
More often than not these mounts have perished over time or become lost, however it cannot be said that all of these vases were sold with mounts during their manufacturing date of the early 1900s.
This vase is exquisite to say the least and being totally free of damage it is a worthy example of its pattern.
These vase types also cost a fraction of the price when compared to say Richardson's of England who produced similar, but more lucrative examples of these orange peel Mother of Pearl, opal Iridescent vases to which these Kralik vases tried to emulate.
They certainly did that well, as can be observed, and it can also be noted that many glass varieties & pattern types, were produced by Kralik, for Loetz.
They offer opportunity to purchase Art Nouveau iridescent glass at an exceptionally good value for money and these vase styles continue to rise in both terms of investment & desirability.
This incredible offer price offers YOU opportunity, and you will not be disappointed with this wonderful example of Art Nouveau glass, produced by one the of the most historically important glass factories of the period. Kralik.
