... Isn't this gorgeous.
Art Deco glass press molded to perfection, which not only captures the very essence of the period, with captivating beauty & charm, but uses the exceptional qualities of transparent & satin frosted crystal to achieve tremendous effect.
Center piece comports do not come much better than this, in terms of attractiveness & instant appeal.
Apart from anything else, one of the most incredible things about this period pattern type is that its factory maker has still yet to be confirmed or established. It is a documented & recorded two part center piece, however even its country of origin lends itself to much on-going debate.
Whoever the factory, its designer or the mold making genius were, one needs only to witness this pieces presence to understand it as an item of utter quality.
It soon becomes apparent when compared with the green glass comport as I have photographed together with this piece, that both were produced by the same factory.
One could be forgiven perhaps, for thinking it to be by Walther of Germany, who developed the peg bowls which are evident upon these wonderful comports, more than any other factory of the period, however it is not, or if it is then not recorded as such. It is not impossible that previous Walther employees took with them the ideas as utilised by Walther to another glass-works, but neither of these pattern examples appear within in any known Walther glass catalogues.
The bowl formation too is not dissimilar to those produced by Josef Inwald, of the Czech Republic, however none of their bowl patterns were produced using the glass peg ... (?)
... A fabulous development within the field of Art Deco press molded glass, for without it then this center piece could not have been produced. The pegged bowl launches this piece into a world of its own, for not only providing obvious beauty & appeal, but also use, as an impressive centre display wherever it is placed for presentation purposes.
It is an exceptional item of Art Deco interior design.
The methods with which the base has been molded for example, produces optical delight to optimum effect.
The stepped & hexagonal base, up and towards the lady's waist for example, has been molded hollow so to achieve eye-catching appeal and visual refraction of light.
The lady, so skilfully & meticulously detailed, stands within a ringed border of exquisitely molded daisy flowers, whilst raising her dress with decency, as if to dance.
The result presents a glass statue with much movement and gracefulness, which is totally in the round, as both sides of her have been afforded the same exacting attention to detail and naturalistic observation.
Study for example, the very clever way with which her dress depicts her legs, with subtleness, or the look of peacefulness & harmony which has been captured upon her facial expression, whilst she almost skates for you upon a plinth of crystal ice.
I make no false claim here. She bears the same parallel to any figurative glass works made by any other molded glass factory of the Art Deco period. She is simply stunning.
From collectors of glass to admirers of all things Art deco, this crystal two part center piece is also in fabulous condition.
There are no cracks. No repairs, scratches or imperfections throughout upon either the central base or its bowl and none of the satin frosting is either polished or bruised. All is as crisply defined as if new...
These outstanding examples of Art Deco press molded glass are of historical importance and also scarcely distributed, as offered here complete. Since their date of manufacture, the bowls have become separated from their bases for example, or have suffered damage to their pegs which then render them of no use to the lady figurative beneath.
The lady's also (as with many glass items) have suffered damage beyond any amount of repair, and when coupled with the fact that very few of these pattern types were produced (in relation to others) makes this opportunity a golden one for you.
The very superlative and the almost unequaled formation of this all-crystal center piece places it within the world of Art Deco sovereignty.
