Gorgeous PAIR of Large & Substantial Mirrored Iridescent Cobalt Blue Vases. Mint & Numbered

WOW! This is mirrored iridescent glass, at its mirrored iridescent best!

An outstanding pair of large vases, which are both a rich cobalt blue coloured glass base batched.

Only by using a dark coloured glass could these vases be presented as are.

They shimmer with ever-changing rainbow hues and golden-silvers, purple-reds and peacock feather colours of greens & turquoise. They are a real "show Stopper" and though unsigned are both unique.

The addition of cobalt, not only provides colour, but also weight and so these are a substantial & impressive pair of fee-blown iridescent glass vases of exceptional quality and as such were produced by a successful factory.

I have owned `similar' coloured examples as this pair. Most of which were produced by Royal Brierley,England and were signed, smaller, light-weight examples produced using manganese batched glass. I consider this pair not be English, Royal Brierley, however I cannot establish either the maker or their country of origin.

Both vases bear the number 0077 etched in script, which is not an English characteristic and certainly not used by Royal Brierely. These numbers as evident, could refer to many things: That they are intended as a pair; Were intended to be lidded jars or was the number as used by the master blowing team which produced them, for during the days of "Time & Motion," the more that a team produced in one day, then the more wage that they would be paid... Not that 77 pairs of THESE vases could be produced in just one day!

To produce iridescent glass is a delight.

Challenging yes, but a delight just the same. Chiefly speaking, the iridescence is obtained by spraying the glass with metallic salts, and before the glass has cooled. Watching these effects occur is incredible, as the colours constantly fluctuate, uncontrollably due solely to the temperature of the glass itself and only once the glass, has completely cooled, will the final resulting iridescent colour range become known.

The addition of combed trails of opaque white glass to these vases, gives a striking contrast to the mirrored background of each, providing a further dimension of eye-catching appeal. They are wonderful.

Both vases have been spared no expense at time of manufacture, as each top has been ground and polished, which is a further sign of quality, for even to this day it is a time consuming and lengthy procedure.

There are no chips, flea-bites, nasty-nicks or cracks and so both are offered to you in mint condition for your collection...

... Please make a place for them, for they will not disappoint.
