'September Morn' Art Deco Uranium Glass Lady Corner Display Complete With Mirror

*I offer my apologies for the photographic mirror reflections which are present within this listing.*

Please just study for a while, the wonderful qualities of this "Art Deco interpretation" of a lady...

Using glass.

It is breathtakingly beautiful and as one can see, uses the qualities of "Mirror" to emphasise the qualities of an "Art Deco Glass Lady" with incredible pose, formation & style.

"September Morn" (as this study is known) has unlimited display possibilities, together with originality, scarcity and true vintage quality, wrapped-up in one package.

Game Set & Match!

You get, "Three Ladies in one" with this wonderful component set piece because from whichever angle you view this beautiful item, each 3 dimensional feature of the lady, reflects back to you with unquestionable beauty and refinement.

It is also evermore unique & desirable for its angled dish shape, which has been designed for any corner display, where to be snugged-in tight, as opposed to any circular item of glass.

The design allows for it to be placed where no other such can, due to its angular rendition & form.

This item was not only new & refreshing in the world of Art Deco glass, but a very clever and sensible notion, for most domestic display areas of shelves, walls, cabinets & corner spaces are square and not round, and as such, this marvellously presented glass item will conform and display to suit its environment within any period or style.

As no records are known to exist of the maker of these noted items, there are many opinions, as to who or which glass factory produced this piece. Many, would suggest, Schweig, Müller & Co, however this cannot be substantiated in any way shape or form, and just as my own views as now follow, can only be deemed as opinion and not fact.

"Opinions," should indeed be shared, openly & freely, when records do not exist.

I have personally owned five glass examples of this set piece, and I therefore base my own observations upon this, whilst also accepting the opinions of others. The noted differences between each example, have been their colour of glass variety, or perhaps more importantly, the shapes to each "lug" which retain the mirrors of each and the scalloped shaped front to the trough, of which some have been flat and without pattern.

The mirror holding "lugs" of glass which are moulded to retain the mirror/s, have either been half-moon shaped or as with this example, rectangular in form.

Various shapes and styles of mirror have also been used, all of which were additions and made outside of any factory who produced, September Morn, but the main features remain the same, which cannot be replicated. Not even by reproduction of any a glass mould, produced before. Most, if not all examples of these fabulous items, have had various mirror replacements over the years. Quadrant, triangular or square etc. or as with this example, scalloped shaped to replicate the front of the glass trough.

The maker or designer of the mould of this piece will probably never be known, however when one views and feels the subtle differences (which most definitely occur with these sets) only then, can one receive golden clues which can lead one towards positive place, of manufacture, the very "glass" itself and not its moulded form of design.

The September Morn lady pattern was produced, as a stand-alone figure, by Müller, however I personally am faithfully of the opinion that THIS EXAMPLE of September Morn, was produced by Sowerby and I would welcome any dispute and from any quarter.

.... The component crystal as used in itself is IDENTICAL to that of same period glass from this factory.

... Sowerby, openly purchased glass moulds from other factories from many of the noted firms from which they were purchased. (many moulds of which had not been used)

Major glass factories, such as Jobling, Walther and numerous others, all sold many of their moulds which was not an uncommon practice.

Sowerby would have and did, simply removed all associated makers or registration marks to their now purchased and much-prized moulds, and simply re-pressed their own glass as suited to them.

In view of the above, I consider this example of September Morn, to having been produced by Sowerby, whether or not it was "designed" in outer Mongolia, France or anyplace else, simply due to the glass itself, which is very much indeed a Sowerby recipe and can be uniquely equalised to other glass examples from this factory, of the period.

My opinion is not to inflate this items price, for it makes no difference at all. Had it been Lalique for example, then for sure, the price would reflect this, but I consider my opinion as worthy as any other regarding this particular pattern and I offer it to assist you and that is all.

One thing which cannot be disputed is the splendour of this set.

As a display piece alone it is without parallel, however if or when used as intended, the entire becomes something else. The depth of the trough allows for good water retention for flower blooms, which reflect like a kaleidoscope upon the angled mirror background.

The lady too, with her integrally moulded glass "frog" posy-flower holder, has ten pre-formed holes to accommodate further placed flower blooms and or buds, which makes arranging a simple task and as you would imagine, the interior display possibilities are endless. The base of the lady, is also peg-raised, so as to allow for water penetration within. She also stands snuggly-fit within the glass trough, as this has been also been moulded with a circular ridge to accommodate her base.

I have also used these pattern types myself, with the addition of small electrical, ultrasonic Fog generator, which can be purchased at low cost from most good suppliers of reptile & amphibian equipment for a vivarium.

These silent "fogger" generators quite literally propel these Art Deco set pieces into a world of their own and when disguised by flower blooms, they do not detract from the glass, but add a serenity of cool-steamy, evaporating mist which rises within & around, with ever-changing visual appeal... and if that's not enough, try the addition also of a UV light source (to bring out the uranium qualities of this glass too) and I can think of few, if any other, Art Deco glass examples which can provide such joy to any corner display area.

(Further details of these Ultrasonic Fog Generators are available by request and I am also able to supply these items if required)

*The condition of this set is MINT* There are no chips, nicks, flea-bites or scratches to any areas of the glass and it is as crisp & fresh as the moment it was produced, circa 1930s...*

*Since listing this piece, I have noticed a small fleck of approximately 3mm splinter to the right side edge of the mirror. I have reduced the asking price for this piece accordingly, however I am in the process of having a complete replacement mirror made for this item, in-keeping with its original design, when the offer price shall return to its more appropriate value. Photographs of the above minor defect are available by request*
