Large JUGENDSTIL Art Nouveau Copper Metal Ewer Jug c1896-c1914

Numerous important companies of the period contributed to producing this new "Style of The Youth."

WMF; OSIRIS - Walter Scherf & Co; Albert Köhler u. Cie and many others each provided us with the wonderful metal works seen today.

The base of this superb example does bear a maker mark (and/or a number) however it has proven impossible for me to decipher or to photograph.

The jug is certainly 100% authentic and of its period and has been a family piece since date of production.

And what a beauty this jug is, with its wonderfully stylized Art Nouveau handle to the solitary tulip flower, one each side, this piece portrays the Art Nouveau style with elegance & form.

The slender and tapering body of the jug, has been decorated with concave hammer planishing, whilst both of the tulips have been embossed proud from the jug surface to add a beautiful contrast to the design.

As a matter of preference I have not attempted to polish the jug, however as like with all copper items of this period, it would polish-up like a dream, to suit your requirements.

I would hesitate to call the jug "bruised & battered," however as is photographed the base of the jug is not perfectly round.

This is no way detracts from the piece and the jug is stable and it stands flat and upright.

There are no holes or splits and the hinged lid fits like a glove.

It is a glorious Art Nouveau item for your collection and it displays beautifully wherever placed.

It is also has historical importance which is as to why the prices of JUGENDSTIL continues to grow, as does its popularity for a wise investment.
