Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro is one of the greatest names in Portuguese popular culture. As "a one-man-band," he left behind a vast legacy to include illustration, ceramics, pottery and plenty more. He was an amazing Arts and Crafts artist and also solely responsible for introducing pictures, caricatures and other images to newspapers etc., which up until then consisted only of text. He further went on to found the first daily critic newspaper: "A Lanterna Magica."
