Fabulous 1930s Continental European Art Deco Butterscotch Amber Glass 2 piece Flower Vase Set.
It is a quality vase which uses butterscotch amber glass to perfection, as this two piece flower set vase, has been superbly stain frosted to all surfaces which makes this glass extremely tactile & appealing.
Both component items, of vase & flower frog, are without chips cracks of damage, save for the tiniest, minuscule of nicks, to the inner base ring of the frog. It can be hardly felt with a fingernail but is mentioned here of accuracy only.
Still retaining its original glass frog makes this vase a desirable item of its type, for even without this additional piece, the vase itself is a real beauty.
This is a seldom seen vase and is therefore problematic to identify.
Its pattern is known and I have seen several examples, however even my most learned of glass collectors & friends are unable to assist with this too, as its factual maker, factory or country of origin is unknown or unrecorded.
The vase base and its glass type, would point towards Jobling, but no factual records within any of Joblings existing catalogues, is it shown or referred to.
Sowerby, could also be a contender, but then again the glass as is used for this vase and likewise, their extensive factory records and a collective knowledge, yet again dismisses this vase as a Sowerby piece.
It most definitely is not a Bagley vase either and so one has to move outside of England, but where? Its amber-glass type does bear remarkable similarity to that of Schlevogt, Czechoslovakia.
IF ONLY, for an Rd Number or even a smaller or a larger version, at least I could inform you more, but I cannot.
What I can say however, is that it is gorgeous and is presented here now, for your collection, to cherish and to adore as much as I have. It is also recognised, agreed and established, that this pattern was produced during the 1930s at the very height of Art Deco...
I WOULD WELCOME WITH GREAT THANKS ANY ENCOURAGING OR POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION OF THIS TWO PIECE FLOWER SET AND SO PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME AT ANY TIME WITH YOUR ADVICE. Thank you.
