The Brockwitz factory of Dresden, Germany, was established in c1903 and from c1915 was producing a large selection of Carnival Glass which appealed to the masses.
During the 1930s-1940s, they produced outstanding Art Deco glass of quality & style.
Brockwitz center piece bowls are substantial pieces of glass, as this wonderful example demonstrates.
This pattern first appeared in their 1931 catalogue and over the years they developed many variations of this stunning bowl throughout the 1930's-1940's.
The colour shade of Ice-Blue, compliments this particular bowl shape to its best advantage. It has been press-moulded using a two-piece spring releasing mould and is decorated in relief with stylized foliage to its clear glass base rim & the two fabulous winged handles.
The geometric-scalloped form of the bowl is wonderfully emphasised by alternating panels of satin-frosted glass, each of these features being concave to the bowl exterior whilst the interior is smoothly fir-polished to provide additional optic effects.
The condition of this bowl is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or hairline fractures, just age related wear to is base, as is common and acceptable for most glass of its period and style. It is exceptionally eye-catching and will add delight to your collection wherever it is displayed.
