Important, Iridescent Translucent Rose Glass Vase by J. Ditchfield, Glasform. England. Signed.

Collected throughout the world by the rich, the famous and the private, the individual and unique works of art glass produced by Glasform, are the creations of the English designer & master glass blower John Ditchfield.

Here for your appraisal is an important and a tremendous example of his work.

By his own admission his inspiration in his work has come from the Tiffany Glass Studios and it is not too difficult to see why.

This amazing Ditchfield vase as an incredible achievement in terms of glass making and technical skill. It is a large and a substantial vase with a body-weight of 3k and it has a circumference of 31 inches.

All of John Ditchfields Glasform vases are totally unique and each, are signed, numbered, documented & recorded. This fabulous example is no exception.

To produce such a masterpiece, multi-coloured stands of floral `mille fiore' (millefiori) are firstly made using compatible coloured glass, which once cooled are cut into sections. A large gather of translucent rose crystal is then blown to approximately one third of this vases' final size, before then adding whispery-trails of emerald green glass which are as thin as hair, and then the controlled placement of each floral millefiori section. The final vase size is then blown before attaching the pontil rod to the base of the vase so as to form the top shape.

The shimmering iridescence of this outstanding piece was applied by spraying with various metallic chlorides, before the glass had cooled. It is amazing to know that this entire process is achieved in less than 15 minutes however, many a good few years at least,to learn and to master!

The rainbow iridescence of this vase is beyond explanation.

The glass fluctuates continuously across a spectrum of colours to include golden-purples,peacock blues & greens ambers blues and pinks, in a blink of the eye...

It is a phenomenal vase by this English master and an important one too, for your collection.

The vase is completely free of any damage and is signed by John Ditchfield in etched script to its base J Ditchfield GLASFORM 7177
