Positive identification of this bottle is welcome.
I have researched extensively over the years and thus far am none more the wiser. I have only been able to compare it to other similar umbrella bottles which undoubtedly were of the same factory, but none of these gave any reference to either the maker or the perfumery.
Its foil label retains its print and is marked: 'Rose Germany' which at least provides its country of origin. Rose was an expensive oil to import from England and was reserved only for parfums of this quality. I would date the bottle as being circa early 1900s.
The bottle also benefits by retaining its original box, however this also does not give any clues or information. It does however bear the original front label which is late Victorian in style with the profile of a lady within its diamond shape and the words: 'Parfum Exquis'
The lady & the name is reversed embossed and so is it raised. The box itself is patterned with faux crocodile skin print.
The bottle has been mouth blown and hand tooled at the lamp. It is an exquisite bottle with its handle decoration of wafer-thin stripes of blue & yellow glass upon a scarlet red base colour.
An added bonus is that a third of its original contents are remaining. These contents can be reached by removing the very tiny cork at the tip of the bottle.
This is a marvellous bottle for your collection and it is also unique. A true Classy-Glass Bargain at this price!
