Surprisingly, there are no records or documents to identify the maker of this amazing work of art. The pattern is known, but to this day, the factual maker remains a mystery?
There are MANY scholars of thought, who like myself, believe this incredible set,to be the the work of Walther & Sohne,Germany, however without it appearing in any of their published catalogues, this can not be accurately established...
This set DOES however (and without any doubts)displays all of the characteristics as being a Walther glass pattern and not all of their known pattern types were catalogued.
It is a most wonderful Art Deco Glass Trinket Set which has been loosely named by collectors & scholars as "Egyptian Pattern." Probably due to its tray having what appears to be a pyramid in the background, however closer inspection reveals this to be landscape.
The tray has been incredibly intaglio moulded upon its underside, with three maidens. One cannot help but wonder what their conversation or reason for being there is.
These maidens have once again been marvellously captured by the two opposing candlesticks and the large lidded box. The profile face of a man has also been intaglio moulded upon the very cleverly designed top lid of the small trinket dish.
The result is quite simply breathtaking and is a supreme accomplishment of Art Deco glass.
As with most trinket sets of the period these items could also be purchased as separates. It is no small wonder as to why...
...Why would one want to hide from view the beautiful details of the tray with component items for example?
These glass sets were not as low priced as imagined back in the 1930's.
Each separate was designed so that it could be displayed as one. And so is the case. Just the tray alone, or say one box & lid or even the smaller trinket dish, is valued today. How about JUST ONE candlestick?
Here from my collection of beautiful Classy-Glass, I am offering you EIGHT component pieces of this desirable set.
All items are in perfect condition. Save for one small hairline which is noted at the top of one candlestick, which is a very small detract for such an amazing component trinket set of outstanding & exceptional beauty.
"Pretty in Pink?" You bet! You may wish to make comparison to a second example which is also still currently available and listed separately here in my shop, and uses Uranium Blue glass throughout.
This is an important Art Deco glass trinket set for your collection, and who cannot fail to be captured by the everlasting charm of this piece. It possesses an eye catching appeal that is timeless.
