WOW! Look at this Fab Art Deco pink glass centrepiece by Walther & Sohnne, c1930's.
August Walther established his glass works in c1888 at Ottendorf- Okilla, Dresden, Germany.
In later years, the factory famously produced some of the most outstanding Art Deco glass of the period using press moulded techniques of which here is an example for your collection.
This quality item speaks for itself as a statement piece of desirability.
Note the beauty of the bowl with its downturned rim and the complimenting Deco feet on which it stands. It is quite simply beautiful as is however when coupled with its two central items of flower-rose and its moulded pair of pelicans well, all comes together to give both elegance & style.
It is the documented pattern name of: Tafelaufsätze – 'Pelikan.' Walther & Sohne, produced numerous bowl patterns, many of which were interchangeable for different decorative center component items, and as is shown in original pattern books this center piece was available using many bowl varieties, however the 'Pelikan bowl' as shown and offered to you here, was produced specifically for the Pelikan central element. It was also available to be purchased separately and for other Walther central figures as required to suit.
As with all of my glass items, this piece has been displayed within dust free custom made glass cabinet in my home (burglar proof of course!) however I dropped the pelican piece several years ago whilst dusting it but thankfully onto a carpeted floor.
This did give one of the birds some slight chips to one wing on its back however I like to think that it was his mate, and not I who caused this, perhaps by over preening each other at times when I was asleep!(smile)
The damage (though evident as one can see when viewed from the back) is not severe and the entire piece remains a wonderful display item. All of my shop items are accurately described & photographed as best able, and any damage reports (if at all evident) are both clearly mentioned and shown. The above is the only slight defect, and all other areas to each component piece are mint. A small unobtrusive defect indeed for such a remarkable achievement of magnificently moulded Art Deco glass.
As pretty as "Pink Pelicans Can Be," I am offering this outstanding glass centrepiece for your collection at a reduced Sale Price which reflects the above damage. Only sensible offers will therefore be considered for this piece, which was produced by one of the most important glass company's of its period: Walther & Sohnne. Germany. Circa 1930's.
This is Classy-Glass at an affordable price, in this current Sale as I am offering. Further price reductions cannot be accepted for this piece.
Please see my further examples by Walther & Sohne, which are currently available, particularly this same pattern using uranium green glass which is mint condition, with which you may wish to make comparison.
