Fabulous 1930s Art Deco Amber Depression Glass Vase & Bowl - Dish Center Piece by Stolzle

Stölzle glass has at all times been highly collected since its foundation at the Oberdorf glassworks in Bärnbach, Austria on June 15th 1805, by Karl Smola. During later years, the company, as like many others of the period, location & style, became known more commonly as Sklo Union/Bohemian Glass.

I have watched their popularity grow over the years for their amazing contributions to Art deco glass designing and they are a company which I would recommend to "ANY" collector of Art deco glass...

The Art Deco glass produced by Stölzle, IS Stölzle at their artistic best and only time has now established them as a force to be reckoned with, for today's Art deco glass collector. I am sure that my current listings will go some way to promote Stolzle ever further.

If you admire Deco Glass, then please do not dismiss them.

Probably most instantly recognisable of all Stölzle Art Deco glass designs is the pattern as offered here...

... Their hallmark of discs, blobs (prunts) and angular Art Deco form, instantly draws one to want it more!

This two piece companion set is a fine example of this pattern, of which the designer or pattern name is unrecorded or known.

These are amazing items of glass and this amber coloured centre piece set for your collection from Classy Glass is no exception.

To have moulded these items must have been a nightmare for the workers! The various protrusions,as evident, would have undoubtedly "stuck" to their moulds and the annealing process would have meant more failure pieces, than commercially viable. Very cleverly therefore, that Stölzle, incorporated any moulding marks as left, within the overall design of these centrepiece items. When one studies these pattern styles, there are always three or four vertical lines to each piece. These are moulding lines and yet they still perform a major role in the overall pattern of each piece. Clever, eh?

This simply would not WORK upon most other Art Deco glass. Lalique (to name but one) constantly worked to remove these marks, but with Stölzle, they ensured that any marks left would form design. No need for them to grind & polish. Job done, fresh from the mould.

To "ME," the Art Deco glass of Stölzle, works best with amber. The solid nature of their work, demands for this colour type. They are not, after all, delicate items requiring anything else. Pastels? Satin? Enamelled? There is no need in terms of eye-appeal, with this particular pattern, and I would say the same if this set was either Ruby, Uranium, or say Burmese. (smile)

I am offering you this companion centrepiece set, in mint condition.

The vase alone can command several hundred $'s and quite some £'s GBP.

The platters are even more scarce and so more desirable, but here at Classy-Glass, you can purchase both and affordably.

Both have been displayed at my home in a dust free environment for many years and are in pristine classy-glass condition

Please take good care of them. They shall reward you daily and for the future.
