Verlys Glass Large Oval Platter Les Feuilles, d'Avesn pattern Number 1292. Circa 1938
This large oval dish/platter has been intaglio moulded with palm leaves. It is the Les Feuilles, pattern Number 1292, as published within the c1938 Verlys catalogue as: Coupe Les Feuilles and published in Le Genie Verrier de l'Europe.
It was also designed by Pierre d'Avesn, a master glass designer of the c20th and a Protégé of René Lalique.
The mouldings are crisp and deeply defined to give an eye catching statement piece of glass. These oval platters display beautifully and use quality mouldings & form, rather than colour, to enhance each decorative motif.
This example is unsigned however its pedigree is without question and would make a welcomed addition to collectors of Verlys. This platter is an antique of tomorrow. Its desirability will continue to grow. Such is the work of Verlys.
Classy-Glass indeed.
