Pair of Antique Pottery Lidded Tureens by Booths, England. c1906.
They are also however,as I am sure you would agree, wonderful display items in their own right. I have them at my home as display pieces, atop of my kitchen dresser cabinet. Family dinner-parties, long gone.
They were produced by Booths, England., circa 1906 using heavy-duty pottery/china. Both tureens carry the early brown makers mark (which dates them as above) together with gilded numbering/letters which I am unable to identify. I believe that the pattern is called: The Marquis. No. 7579
At over one hundred years old, they are remarkable survivors of their type. There are no nasty chips and most of the gilded trim remains intact. As one would expect, some of the glazing has crazed, however this is more evident upon only one of the tureens.
These are seldom found as a pair and so I kindly urge you purchase whilst you can. They are worthy examples to adorn your collection and of course for use as intended.
And of course to use as my family did for many enjoyable years.
