Victorian Peach Blow Wild Rose Cased Satin Glass Vase by Thomas Webb. Pre-1910
Similar vases of this colour & period were produced by The New England Glass Company and are named Wild Rose. This English piece is however made differently as it uses two layers of glass. The innermost layer being white.
Glassware of this type is also known as Heat Sensitive Glass. Other coloured examples are the likes of Peach Blow.
This rich ruby coloured glass vase, shades into white. It was achieved by flashing & quickly rotating the glass, to its lower parts. The colouring agents used reacted to this sudden heat where applied. Upon cooling, the glass then shaded to capture its remarkable colouring.
This beautiful example is completely free of any damage. There are no nasty chips, cracks or flea-bites. It is a truly fine vase of its type for your collection and it is very favourably priced.
Its pontil mark has been ground and is evident to its center base.
