1970s Betmar Straw Sun Hat Made in Italy

The thing that really makes this sun hat stand out from the rest is the great scalloped edge of the brim. Nicely finished with a woven straw cording, this hat is very well made. The woven straw has a rich amber colored patina and is quite substantial....not flimsy at all and if you are looking for a soft, floppy sun hat, this hat is not for you. The rounded crown is not overly tall.....and, I can just imagine a colorful scarf added to the base of this crown for added pizzazz!!! The hat is unlined, but does have a deep amber grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. An unusual straw hat.....very well made and very pretty! Well, it was made in Italy....what more could we expect!!!

Condition: Excellent

I usually don't use this condition criteria very often, but with this particular hat, I really don't see any issues worth noting. For a woven straw hat to be in this good of condition is unusual. If I really had to note something, it would be that one of the scallops on the brim is slightly turned up, instead of straight. This can be seen in the last photo.

Due to the large size of this hat, it will require a larger box and will be shipped by UPS or FedEx.
