This little bright pink enamel Nasturtium brooch just seems to say "happy"!! The metal sections of the flower are dimensional and have nicely shaped edges to give the petals are more interesting look. The center is bright yellow enamel detailed with just a little bit of black enamel. There is a cotton disc under this yellow center. The stem, which is leafless, is painted with a grass green enamel paint. The combination of these three bright colors make for an appealing 1960's "Flower Power" design. This brooch looks so amazing on black.....I can see this one worn on the shoulder of a black coat or turtleneck with the stem pointed upward....very striking, indeed! And, one more plus, this fine little brooch comes in it's original pale pink box with the Hattie Carnegie name embossed in silver tone letters. The name of this particular flower appears on a sticker attached to the box, as well as the famed designer, Hattie Carnegie.
The brooch shows very few signs of wear....it actually appears to have been worn very little at all. There are several little specks which appear on the back of the stem.....these seem to have been something that occurred in the enameling process....not due to wear or damage. There are variations in the pink enameling....here, again, these appear to have been original to the brooch. The box shows some wear, as you can see from the photos.
Signed: This pin is not signed. Only the box bears the name of the designer, Hattie Carnegie.
