Vintage Late 1950's-Early 1960's Silk Scarf by Kimball Signed by Simone
Kimball is often thought of for it's charming handkerchief designs which were popular during the 1940's, 50's and 60's, but here is a lovely example of the fine silk scarves that were also produced by this company. This scarf has a great block style design.....four large blocks each containing a scenic vignette and lots of small blocks in the center. An eclectic mix Angels, Butterflies, Wreaths, Birds, Flowers and Grapes fill some of these smaller blocks. The scarf is executed in deep teal blue, white, black, silver and gold. There is actually a bit of gold paint used to embellish the scarf. The edges are hand rolled. This scarf is just so typical of the scarves made during this time and the design has a bit of an Italian feel to it!
Gender: Unisex, Age Group: Adult, Color: Teal/Gold/Silver/Black/White, Size: 32 1/2" x 33 1/2"
Condition: Very Good
The type of pure silk used in these types of vintage scarves tends to have some issues with "stretch marks" and there are a few in the teal border, but for the age of this scarf, the condition is so very good. The colors are very vibrant and the gold metallic highlight painting is still crisp. A great vintage scarf find for the collector!
