With summer in mind, here is a "light as air" finely woven straw hat made from quality straw which has been dyed the most delightful shade of mint green with the slightest tint of pale aqua (Seafoam Green is most likely more accurate). The brim is turned down and rolled under on the outer edge. The crown is high and round with a unique pinched or indented effect achieved by pinching while the straw was being molded....while still moistened the indents were stitched in order to hold the shape until the hat was dry. As you can see from the photos, the stitches are still in tact. This truly makes for an interesting topper. The base of the crown is surrounded by an emerald green silk chiffon hatband. On the inside of the unlined hat there is a beige grosgrain ribbon hatband and the outer brim is trimmed with light aqua cording. I could find very little about the maker of this hat and would welcome any information that anyone may have concerning this label. Relying on the wealth of information that "Hatatorium" provides to sellers, as well as Vintage Fashion Guild, neither could provide any insight about Studio Fashions. So....it remains a mystery label!
Condition: Very Good
There is one definite issue and that is the silk chiffon outer hatband. It is delicate and fine silk chiffon and has suffered the misfortune somewhere in it's past life of acquiring a number of holes where the silk has deteriorated.....I counted 11 small holes. These are small and are not gapingly noticeable and if they should be such a bother, the new owner might just tie a new scarf around the existing one or just wear "as is"! Also, the dyed straw has some very faint variations when applied to the straw, but I would say that this is something that occurred when the hat was originally made and does not come from fading. The nice quality of this hat far outweighs these slight issues.
