Early 1960's Silk Shantung Sheath Dress Designed by Norman Wiatt

This stunning sheath style dress is made from one of the most beautiful fabrics.....Silk Shantung. The color is a subtle sand and the soft sheen of the silk makes this simple dress something special and dressy! Sleeveless and a scoop neckline (both front and back) with attractive horizontal linear detail.....just speaks volumes about this classy dress. Side darts at the bust line and two large pleats from the waistline (front and back) make for a well fitted bodice. There is a metal zipper closure at the back of the dress and a narrow belt made from the same material as the dress with a smart bow over the three adjustable snaps. The fabric in this dress is light, crisp and flowing. All of the horizontal seaming details are well matched and the ones on the bodice have a slight curve which makes for a very attractive effect. There is a little bit of inner lining in the hip area.....see the photos of the inside of the dress. Very nicely made with a touch of refined elegance.

Condition: Very Good

This dress is in great condition with the exception of a small watermark on the left shoulder strap. I have photographed this spot as best that I could and I believe it shows more in the photo than it actually shows on the dress. It looks as if there was a small mark of some sort (possibly ink) and someone tried to remove it. This is not very noticeable....only when you know it's there and you're looking for it. The fabric is so pretty, and as is true of Silk Shantung.....seems to resist wrinkling to some extent.
