DeMario made magnificent costume jewelry from 1945 to 1965. This company was known for their dramatic necklace/collar designs which often resembled the style of Miriam Haskell because of the use of hand beaded elements and antique gold-tone metal and filigree backs. The necklace offered here for sale is very typical of DeMario's designs, featuring rose montee settings , strands of gold-tone braided rope and chains and faceted iridescent brown glass beads. The center ornament is set with amber colored rhinestones and smaller versions of the larger brown beads. The back of the necklace catches with a flower catch very similar to those used in Haskell jewelry. Although this necklace definitely displays the colors of the Fall season, it would be wonderful to wear any time of year!
