The definition of a Breton style hat is that it is a type of sailor hat with a wide, turned-up brim....and, that is a great description of this cute little hat! It's made from lacquered straw and the black brim almost resembles black patent leather. The crown done in a an off white lacquered straw adds a nice contrast to the black brim. There is a black grosgrain ribbon around the crown with a sweet little bow at the back of the hat. There is no lining in the hat....only a black grosgrain ribbon headband around the inner circumference. All in all, a very neat little design that looks better on than off! Lucy would have worn this little hat to lunch with the ladies with white gloves!
Chesterfield Original....Sorry, I couldn't find much history on this company.
