Here we have a lovely black rayon floor-length evening dress which exemplifies the classic elegance of the 1940's! The bateau neckline is accentuated with gold colored braid and sequins both on the front and back of the dress. The keyhole openings on the front of the neckline and on each of the cap sleeves give even more detail to a spectacular dress and are detailed with the same braid and glittering gold sequins! The bustline has double dart seaming and the bottom of the dress is graced with a provocative slit on one side. The hemline is rounded in front and circles to the back with a squared off finish. Opposite of the slit, the skirt has a flourish that starts at the waistline and extends approximately half way down the length of the skirt in swaths of crepe! There is a side metal zipper. This dress originally had a belt, but, sadly, it has been lost somewhere in the decades since it first was worn by some very fashionable lady!
LABEL: Only the remnant of a label exists on the back of the neckline.
CONDITION: Very Good
As mentioned before, the belt is missing. The sequins and braid detail are in wonderful condition and seemed to be in tact. I cannot see where any sequins or braid is missing. The material is very clean and stable with no detectable staining or holes.
SIZE: No size tag.
SHOULDERS: 15" across bateau neckline
SLEEVE: 5.5" and 14" opening
