American sterling silver souvenir of Nevada spade and shovel by Joseph Mayer of Seattle, c.1908.
Each of these very desirable souvenir spoons has a matte finished, gilt bowl, a clover blossom handle and a nugget and gold pan, pick and shovel finial. The Spade has: Nevada embossed on the top of the Gold Pan, with a finial of a Prospector's Burro, with: 3-23-08 engraved on the matte finished gilt bowl.
The Shovel has a bucket finial with: Reno, Nev. '09 engraved in the matte finished gilt bowl.
Each as a wire rope twisted around the handle.
The spade is 5 1/2" long and weighs 23 grams.
The shovel is 5 1/4" long and weighs 22 grams.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
