German Art Deco Alpacca Silver Alloy Kola Dallmann box, c.1935
Alpacca Silver is an imitation silver alloy that contains copper, zinc and nickle, but contains no silver. It is not plated and polishes to a high luster.
Kola Dallmann is the trade name for an over the counter stimulant that contains caffeine, cola and lecithin and has been marketed in Europe for nearly a century.
There are many boxes or tins from this company, but this is the nicest one we have ever seen. The finish is excellent, inside and out.
It it triangular in shape, with rounded corners and a gilt, clean interior. The lid has an Art Deco Geometric design and opens and closes properly and securely, making it an ideal pill box.
Weighing 16 grams, the equilateral triangle measures 1 5/8" on each side.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
