American sterling silver Art Nouveau Figural Q tip or cotton swab holder by William Kerr of Newark New Jersey, c.1900.
This elegant holder, which is a little too large for a toothpick holder, has an applied woman's face with her long hair flowing into the swirling vine decorating the undulating rim.
The side of the tapered body is monogrammed, in ornate, period script: JH
Weighing 57 grams, this ornate holder is 2 5/8" tall, 3" in diameter at the rim and 1 5/8" in diameter at the base. It will hold about 50 cotton swabs.
Monogrammed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
