American coin silver mug or cup by Benjamin F. Crane, St Louis, 1842 - 1861.

A nice provincial cup with a fancy strap handle and a wire rope border under the upper rim. The circular, pedestal base is slightly stepped, with the front of the body bearing the contemporary inscription: Mary S. Hall from her Grandma.

Weighing 104 grams or 3.3 ozs. Troy, this special mug is 3 3/4" tall, 3" in diameter (upper), 2 5/8" in diameter (base) and the base is slightly out of round.

Inscribed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.

The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
