This is an antique men's waistcoat. I would estimate the age to be 1770's to about late 1780's. . The piece is entirely hand stitched. It is fashioned of wool with a covered button front closure. One button is missing. The rear has a series of 3 ties to adjust the fit.The vest looks to be linen lined. The back panel is a cotton with a ribbed pattern. The vest has 2 long narrow pockets at the bottom of the vest.
Condition: The waistcoat is in very good condition to age. It has not been cleaned. There are two 1" tears at the back neckline in the cotton back. One of the back silk ties is missing. Otherwise excellent.
Age:18th Century circa 1780's
Size: Across the chest waistcoat measures 20" underarm to underarm. Back neckline to hemline measures 22".
