Vintage dress 1970s evening gown tangerine orange

Beautiful sultry evening gown or dress, fashioned of a poly knit. This vintage dress has fabulous detailing with a double strap at each shoulder and a knee high slit in the center front. The dress label reads Joan Leslie by Kaspar. Dress has a back nylon zip closure with top hook and eye.

Herbert Kasper attended Parsons School of Design He spent time in Paris where he worked for the couture houses of Jacques Fath, Christian Dior, and Marcel Rochas. Upon his return to New York in the early 50s he designed for Arnold Fox, and was awarded a Coty in 1955. In 1965 Kasper joined the firm of Leslie Fay. He then became the designer for their Joan Leslie division.

In 1975, Saks Fifth Avenue joined with Kasper, Trevira, and the new Loews Hotel Monte-Carlo in a several page advertisement. These dresses are all made of Trevira polyester jersey fabric, and they were quite expensive.Polyester was very popular in the 1970s. All dresses shown in these ads are by Kasper for Joan Leslie and all are of Trevira Star© polyester jersey. Saks Fifth Avenue had Kasper Boutiques in their stores where these dresses were sold.

Condition: Dress is excellent condition. The dress has been dry cleaned and is ready to wear condition.

Measurements: All measurements are taken with the dress laid flat and measurement doubled with no ease.
