This is a beautiful antique cape or caplet from the Victorian era. The piece is fashioned of a cotton velvet with a black polished cotton lining. The velvet is a deep indigo blue in color. There is black silk ribbon appliqués on this cape which are trimmed on their edges with black jet beading, just stunning. There is some shatter to the silk ribbon, but the piece is still very attractive and replacement, is not yet necessary. Gathered lace trims the collar area and there is a silk ribbon tie at the front neckline. The silk ribbon is worn and will eventually need to be replaced. There is a hook and eye closure at the neckline.
