Description: Floral applique quilt 1870's red and green applique. Great rose pink and green coloring on white ground, finely quilted. Hand quilted 5 stitches per inch. The binding is handsewn and batting is thin. Pattern is Cockscomb
Age: circa 1870's
Color: Rose, pink, green on creamy white ground. Backing is creamy white.
Condition: Quilt is strong and in good condition. There are areas in the applique that have some minor tear and shatter from age. There are two 1" tears in the white ground, near the edge... not glaring. Also a small stain dead center that does not detract. The quilt looks to have been laundered... oh well... It also looks to have been made larger with an add on on 2 sides; I have pictured it. It blends but still is an add on.
Size: With the 2 added sections quilt measures 95" X 76".
